Jiffy Mitts



I used Patons self striping sock yarn with 2.5 needles for ribbing and 3.5 needles for main stitching.

Cast on 40. Join and knit in the round
Work a couple rows of ribbing for cuff.
Knit about 2 inches
Set up Row - Knit 10 stitches then place marker, knit 1, place marker knit to end. (set up)

Row 1 -Knit to marker, PM*, M1, knit to next marker, M1, PM, knit to end.
Row 2 - Knit 1 row.

Repeat rows one and two until you have 20 stitches between the markers.
This is the metered thumb.
Slip all other stitches to scrap yarn (palm part of mitt)
Join the thumbs 20 stitches in the round and  knit for around 1/2 inch adding a couple rows of ribbing.
Cast off.

Put the scrap yarn stitches onto needles and join in the round.
Knit for another 2 inches.
Knit a couple rows of ribbing.
Cast of loosely.
